The Red Delicious Apple tree is a fruiting tree, that grows to a height of 20–25′ and a spread of around 25′ at maturity. This tree is considered a fast rate grower, with height increases of more than 24″ per year. Blooms mid-season, with pinkish-white flowers and grows in an oval shape.
Produces a medium- to large-sized red apple that is tender, crisp and juicy with a sweet, mild flavor–great for fresh eating and desserts. The fruit will keep for 3–6 months if stored in the refrigerator.
Plant the Red Delicious tree in acidic, moist and well-drained soil, in full sun, requires regular watering. It is not drought-tolerant. Harvest time from mid- to late September to mid-October. Can be pollinated with Gala or Granny Smith. The Red Delicious will need 700–800 chill hours.
