The Jonagold Apple tree (Malus ‘Jonagold’) is a fruiting tree that grows to heights of 12-15′ tall with equal spreads. Jonagold features white blossoms which appear in spring and are followed by large, red-over-yellow apples with a balanced flavor. Parents of this cultivar are Jonathan and Yellow Delicious.
Best grown in deep, loamy, moderately fertile, slightly acidic, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates average garden soils, but unamended heavy clay soils which waterlog easily and drain poorly should be avoided.
Harvest in mid-September. Required chill hours are 700-800. Pollinate with; Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith or Red Delicious, but not Golden Delicious.
