The Ann Magnolia (Magnolia liliflora ‘Nigra’) is best grown in organically rich, neutral to slightly acidic, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Produces impressive deep purple-red blooms with 7–9 petals that resemble tulips. Blooms mid- to late March, with some blossoms reappearing in the summer.
